Virginia-based filmmaker, actor and special effects artist Coven Delacruz of Condemned Productions is collaborating with Jonathan Moody on the upcoming Scream Queen Campfire. Before taking on this project, Coven has given horror fans at conventions and festivals several short films of his. We take a look at two of these shorts today with “Remembering” and “Confused.”

Remembering
DIRECTED BY: Coven Delacruz
REVIEWED BY: Mario Dominick

Remembering is about a self-loathing young man named Jeremy who’s seemingly lost all confidence in the people closest to him as he’s been stood up one too many times. He no longer feels the need to live. One day while sitting on a bench in a park, a girl named Jane sits down next to him and tries to convince him he has more going for him in life than his negative outlook will let him see. The story then concludes in a most bizarre way.

Confused
DIRECTED BY: Coven Delacruz
REVIEWED BY: Mario Dominick

Confused is a darkly humorous short story about an angel and demon in the betting business. We find them in the presence of a drug addict who’s committed a heinous crime. They place their bet on whether or not he will have the guts to kill his friend when he comes over and stumbles upon the aftermath of the vicious act and then take his own life.

Remembering and Confused are both cool little shorts that each deliver a good story in under 10 minutes. Remembering is a psychological drama that seems to have, as I view it, a message about the things people take for granted in life and Confused is a quirky horror-comedy that appears to be about the decisions people make and what they can be driven to as a result of the lifestyles they choose.
