Sloppy The Psychotic (Review)

Maniac Films and Mike O’Mahony bring you another horror film called Sloppy The Psychotic. And Maniac Films is the perfect company to tackle a film as maniacal as Sloppy.  The last film by Mike O’Mahony, Deadly Detour, was pretty messed up and demented. However, I feel that Sloppy outdoes Deadly Detour in every way…especially in the “what the fuck?” category, but I’ll get to that later.

Sloppy The Psychotic is about a guy named Mike whose only job is to perform as a clown. He lives with his parents, drives a silly car, suffers abuse at the hands of disgruntled town locals, and when he loses his job – this just sets him off the edge. Mike’s only joy in life was to entertain children, now his only joy in life is killing everyone he comes across.

Sloppy The Psychotic stars Mike O’Mahony, Deadly Detour alumni James Costa, Fred Ficke, Julie Ann Hamolko, and Maniac newcomers David Folger, Lauren Ojeda, and Lou Beaver. Mike O’Mahony also serves as director and writer, along with Erich Ficke.

Let’s start with my notes, shall we?

Even though he is a vicious killer, I did feel some sympathy for Mike/Sloppy. Living at home so late in life and driving that cock-block car – life must be difficult. Then he goes into the crazy clown bit and kills everyone and I still feel a little sorry for him! Clowns are always creepy, but will never be as bad as “Pennywise” from It. I did notice that the mom in one scene sounds exactly like Rosie O’Donnell, which I’m not sure is a good thing or a bad thing. Speaking of bad things, there isn’t a lot to really wreck Sloppy about. The only production mishap I spotted was a scene that goes day-night-day all within staying in the same couple of hours. Sloppy is a very indie feature, but it’s still made very well. But, keeping it real, I was not watching Sloppy for its cinematic qualities. I was watching it to see some crazy shit happen! Sure the acting and script was good, but come on – bring on the gruesome stuff!

And Sloppy did not disappoint. I could go into details about a lot of the death scenes, but I don’t want to spoil the movie for anyone who may view it. So, I’ll just tell you what my two favorite death scenes were. 1) Hobo drowned in his own piss. 2) Child in grill. In Deadly Detour there was a massacre of handicapped people at the end. Sloppy has this too, and while not to the extent as Detour, it’s still pretty messed up.

This film has a lot of dick chopping, a lot of gore, and a lot of boobs. I think horror fans who enjoy sick, sick movies will enjoy Sloppy The Psychotic. It definitely finds its niche! Good job, Mahony! On to the next one?!
