Post Mortem, America 2021, Chapter One

I’ve have used Post Mortem America 2021 a few times as a credit example when I mention actors pictured within this film. I never had a chance to  see it, though. So when I met Monique Dupree last weekend and saw she was selling this film, I secretly thought, “Yes!” While speaking with her, she mentioned that Post Mortem America 2021 is actually a series that is going to be released in different chapters. This is just chapter one.

Post Mortem America 2021 is described as a hybrid film that combines multiple genres into one including horror, western, action, and some humor. In the first chapter, titled The Beginning, we get to meet some of the film’s unique characters and establish some (but not a lot) of the back story. Mostly, the character “Lucille” has found someone…someone that she needs to torture for answers, and a little fun.

“Lucille” is played by one of the first scream queens, Linnea Quigley. She is joined in Chapter One by Jim O’Rear (Monster Cruise), Monique Dupree (Bachelor Party In The Bungalow of The Damned), Edward X. Young (Psycho Street), Ernest Gentz, Aaron Paschke, and Mary L. Krueger. Chapter One is written and directed by Cameron Scott.

This film is completely in black and white, which is kind of cool. You definitely don’t see a lot of films in black and white anymore. As a movie reviewer, I appreciate the unique approach. The acting is pretty good since everyone who appears in a main role is a seasoned professional at this point. The script, on the other hand, was a little lacking. It took a while to really take off and get me interested. Once I was hooked – bam! It’s over and I realize what Monique meant about “chapters” was that it is being released as multiple short films! Nooooo! It was kind of like giving me some ice cream than taking it away! Damn you, Cameron Scott!

I know that more chapters will be released soon (if they haven’t been already), so Post Mortem America 2021 Chapter One (“The Beginning”) did a decent job at grabbing my attention. I will be on the look out for more installments going forward. If you are at an event and have the opportunity to pick this up, I would recommend it…especially to those who like horror…and westerns…and torture…and Monique Dupree and Linnea Quigley.
