Colleen Miller

Bio

Colleen Elizabeth Miller was born in Naperville, Illinois, and moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma at age nine, where she began studying theatre, music, and dance. Colleen’s first acting role was in junior high, where she played Witch Hex in the Grimm’s Brothers version of Snow White. Colleen continued performing throughout high school and was also seen in Stillwater’s local Town & Gown Theater, as Ursula in Bye, Bye Birdie and Eugenie in A Flea in Her Ear.

Colleen received her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Acting from Northern Illinois University. Some of Colleen’s college theatre credits include June/Skinhead in Marisol, Dopey in Balm in Gilead, Falstaff in Shakespeare in the Wasteland, and Cheryl Crawford in The Group! She also appeared in Guys and Dolls. Colleen studied acting abroad for a semester at The Gaiety School of Acting and at Trinity University in Dublin, Ireland.

Upon graduating Colleen moved to Chicago to pursue her acting career. She studied and performed improv/sketch comedy at The Second City and iO! for her first 3 years and was cast to play various caricatures in local shows like Justice is Served and Improv Stand-Up. Some of her professional theatre roles include Tricia in Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, Donnie Mashburn in Offsprung, Olive Madison in The Odd Couple: Female Version, Titania/Hypolita in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ms. Applerose in Scrooge Unglued, Chrysta Koch in Determination, and a Zombette in the musical Zombies from the Beyond.

However much Colleen loves theatre and performing for live audiences, her true passion is acting on film. Colleen’s filmography includes Howling Moon, Paranormal Calamity, Dr. Spine, Reality Star, Baby Alligators, Necravin, The Borderline, One Way, Foreign English, Tea Party, Going To Pieces, and At Sunset. She is also featured in three episodes of the Welcome to Dreadville Series II & III: Are You Rei?, Red in Dreadville, and The Dark of Night.

Upon moving to Chicago Colleen also discovered she has a talent and passion for doing special effects make-up design and costuming. She began with making her Halloween costumes from scratch and then advanced to creating SFX for films such as Baby Alligators and Necravin and for live theatre performances such as Village Of K and Mud People. Colleen just finished staring as Chrysta Koch in the terminator spoof Determination, where she also got to create her own version of the “terminator eye”. This was her first time to use her make-up skills on herself in a show she acted in.

Beyond her make-up and acting credits, Colleen is an award-winning bassoonist, and is a skilled saxophonist and percussionist. She is trained in ballet and jazz/hip hop dance and excels in tap dancing.

If you want to see Colleen perform NOW you can check her out weekly singing and dancing as the overzealous flapper Coco in the 1920’s dinner cabaret Tommy Gun’s Garage. And of course catch her traveling the Midwest in the zany comedy Sister Bernie’s Bingo Bash as the ex-carnival engineer Sister Cherisse.
