Deadly Beauty: Horror’s Scream Queens and Rising Talent: Justine Greenwald

34600_410330063105_776442_n1“Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, I’ve always had a passion for the arts. Singing and dancing was where it all began for me. I became involved in dance videos, regional theater and musical productions. This led to various independent television and web based productions, including commercial and film work.

From 2008-2010, I co-hosted over 50 episodes of Time Warner Cleveland’s “Mic Check 216”, an interview show with local and national celebrities shot on location throughout Cleveland. I have hosted numerous events for Fashion TV Network and TV20 special projects, I have since began hosting a show covering local artists and entertainment in Cleveland called Reel Cleveland.

Having been Meisner trained and receiving a degree in broadcasting from Arizona State University’s Cronkite School. I’m currently a Cleveland based actress appearing in award winning full-length feature films, independent short films, commercials and various stage projects.

When not pursuing stage and screen work, I’m happy to be called Mommy by 2 boys (Mason –10yrs old and Miles – 8yrs old), and a licensed & registered investment adviser and serving on the board of The Heights Youth Club and Stand Up For Kids, Cleveland.

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to do the things I love. I feel like the inside of me has been turned out when performing. I do it because I have to do it and I love to do it.”*

Location: I am currently a midwest actress/tv show host but travel often to NY, LA and overseas to London

1. How did you get into the industry?

I have been involved in some sort of theater/dance/music since I was a young child and have always been passionate about the arts. I majored in Broadcasting at Arizona State University and stayed involved in theater and dance before moving to the big screen and television work. I have studied at The Actor’s Centre of London and continue to take Method/Meisner based classes in Cleveland Ohio. I also try to get to intense course studies in NY and LA at any opportunity. I have learned so much from fellow actors and have been fortunate to have some great teachers show me the ropes. My involvement in performing arts is a part of me. I can’t NOT do it. It has never been about fame or fortune for me (although that would be nice, right?) It has been about love, passion and expression.

2. What Scream Queen inspired you most?

I would have to say Lucille Ball. She was a big screamer when she got busted doing something naughty… But as far as scream Queens that had the best scream of course that would be Alfred Hitchcock’s movie and also Michael Jackson thriller scream-The wide eyes are the best!

3. What are the next couple projects you are working on?

I have an ongoing show in Cleveland, Ohio that I host called Reel Cleveland – www.reelcleveland.com which is an arts and entertainment show – interviewing local artists and entertainers and places that encourage people to come out and see what Cleveland has to offer (lots of great stuff!) I also co-host a movie review show called “Reel Review” on www.216tv.org with Mr Al Pawalowski (yes.. from STO) This is a fun and a hoot for me to do The premier of Kandiland is coming up in a few weeks where I play the bitchy boss of a modeling agency that goes wrong.. I am working on a project called Red Right 88 and a documentary about the Cleveland Browns which I’m looking forward to and two projects that have a lot of meaning to me, One with Capriole Productions out of Princeton New Jersey – a documentary about child trafficking in Brazil (I guess you can say this is a horror story) and I’m working on getting a project going about a brutal murder that happened in the early 70’s in Tonga within the Peace Corps. (also based on a true story). I have a few commercial spots (national and regional) on the networks now that are always fun to do.. and that’s about it at the moment! Oh.. I also forgot.. I was cast on Animal Planet next week!
