It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Chicago and a perfect day to head out to the historic Patio Theater where two very special screenings of the classic 1954 Universal Pictures film Creature from the Black Lagoon, in the original 3-D was taking place with original star Julie Adams in attendance.   Seeing this wonderful example of cinematic history in a restored historic theater they way the film was originally intended to be seen was nothing short of magical.

Making the event even more special was having the star of the film, Julie Adams in attendance with her son and biographer, Mitchell Danton.   Ms. Adams was gracious enough to spend her day signing autographs, taking pictures and talking with fans about the film.  After each screening, Ms. Adams was interviewed on stage by noted film historian Foster Hirsch.

Turnout was incredible for a 60 year-old film with lines stretching out the door and around the corner.  Kudos and special thanks to the team behind the event, Movieside, who also are responsible for the other great Chicago film events, Terror in the Aisles, Sci-Fi Spectacular and The Massacre 24-Hour horror film festival.  As always, these guys plan and put on a wonderful show for all.

A very special thank you goes out to Ms. Julie Adams and her son Mitchell Danton for being a true example of Hollywood grace and decorum.   It was a memorable day to be sure!
