Welcome to PENANCE LANE
The population of Chesterton just grew by one. Crimson Matthews, so fresh from the joint you can still see the cuff marks, just dropped his hitch-hiking boots onto Main Street. His car bomb temper has left a trail of shattered windows and broken jaws but Crimson is ready for a fresh start… perhaps wishful thinking considering his weakness for women in trouble.
Chesterton, however, could be a challenge. A ghost of a town since the mine shut down, Chesterton takes care of its own, and Crimson, with his glare and web of tattoos, is definitely an outsider. Then, Father John, guardian of the town’s hopes, who owns a dilapidated property on Penance Lane, extends a kindly hand and offers Crimson the job as handyman. Crimson eyes the once-beautiful estate and realizes this is a second chance for the both of them.
But when Crimson uncovers something hidden and long-buried within the walls of Penance Lane he unleashes a world of dark secrets and violent intent. With the threat of being dragged into its hellish depths, will Crimson finally learn when to walk away? Or will he drag the town of Chesterton into this nightmare prison greater than anything he’s ever known or even imagined?

PENANCE LANE, written by Munier Sharrieff (BATTLE CHASERS, BATTLE OF THE PLANETS) is the second motion picture from Mane Entertainment, the production house founded by Tyler Mane and Renae Geerlings with the goal of creating cutting edge genre-spanning entertainment. Mane knows this territory well, having followed his iconic performances in X-MEN, SCORPION KING, and TROY with memorable turns as Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s juggernaut HALLOWEEN films. Geerlings is also well versed in multi-genre material, coming from a fifteen-year background in comics at Top Cow (WANTED, TOMB RAIDER, THE DARKNESS), Radical (OBLIVION, HERCULES: THE THRACIAN WARS), and the new IDW imprint, Darby Pop Publishing, as well as having appeared in HALLOWEEN II with her masked husband.
Mane Entertainment’s first film, COMPOUND FRACTURE, just secured domestic distribution (details coming on Monday!) after many months on the road, where it thrilled audiences with a unique interactive experience hosted by its creators. The film, which also stars Muse Watson (I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER), Leslie Easterbrook (DEVIL’S REJECTS), and Derek Mears (FRIDAY THE 13th) continues to be met with rousing reviews, described as, “Brilliant,” (Truly Disturbing), “An interesting character study,” (The Examiner), and, “A fantastic little supernatural revenge tale,” (Dread Central).
The Rest Of The Team
Contemporary horror icon BJ McDonnell is stepping into the director’s chair for PENANCE LANE, having previously worked with Mane on a number of projects, including DEVIL’S REJECTS, HALLOWEEN, and HALLOWEEN II. He last helmed the cult horror smash HATCHET III.
For their sophomore effort, Mane and Geerlings also enlisted the help of fellow producer Justin Beahm, who brings years of film journalism and filmmaking experience to the table, cementing the foundation for PENANCE LANE.
