Deadly Beauty: Horror’s Scream Queens and Rising Talent: Kerri Daube
“Considering herself a native to New Mexico, Kerri actually moved all around the U.S at an early age. Kerri was born November 13th of 1984 in the heart of Texas to a military family. After her parents divorce around the age of 2, Kerri moved to California where she was raised until the age of 6. From the ages of 6-9, Kerri lived a “gypsy” life, traveling around until finally settling in Albuquerque, NM in the early 1990’s.
Her love for art was very noticeable from an early age. Being an only child, she consumed most of her time painting, drawing, writing music and poetry and listening to David Bowie. Her poem “Illusions”, inspired by a Bowie song, was entered to The International Library of Poetry and published in a Celebration of Poets: Showcase Edition. She was around the age of 12. At the age of 14, Kerri wanted to get into modeling and went to several casting calls but was told she wasn’t what “they” were looking for. Quickly becoming discouraged, Kerri went back to her art. Which she continues to do to this day.
Kerri’s love for acting didn’t spark until her Freshman year in High School where she took theatre classes. However, stage fright kept her from ever performing so she remained “backstage”. Being a creative soul, she quickly took to the costumes and make-up. Her acting career didn’t start until she was 21. After several background roles including a bit part in a film called Wedding Slashers and a featured extra part on Beerfest, it was then that she realized that performing in front of the camera was much more her cup of tea than theatre. Not long after, she created the stage name ASHLEY BRYCE but later went back to her legal name. After her very first audition she was cast as a lead in a local independent film called GIMME SKELTER, where she also assisted with the costuming and even met her fiancé, Aaron Work. However, Kerri’s acting career was short lived. After only doing a few local films including a lead role in Troma’s KLOWN KAMP MASSACRE and a short series called DUKE CITY NIGHTS, Kerri “re found” a passion for modeling. Now, around the age of 24 she went full force into the pin up modeling and rockabilly scene where she soon became enamored with tattoos. Quickly taking a leap, her first tattoo was the red winged black bird with leopard spots on her left upper arm. Within the next year she was sleeved. June of 2010 Kerri was the cover model for NEW MEXICO MAGAZINE and was the featured model in REBEL RODZ MAGAZINE for the girls of Vegas issue. In later 2010 Kerri even became a photographers assistant and went on to travel over the next couple years including two trips to BURNING MAN and even a trip to the BUNNY RANCH in Nevada. However, it didn’t take Kerri long to realize she didn’t want to be behind the camera but in front of it. Kerri is now the face for a local business in Peralta, NM called The Motor Car Mall and she can be found on many other websites including ModifiedCars.com and MyRideIsMe.com. In her spare time she occasionally models for the Santa Fe workshops, Zivity and several other projects with friends. She even had her first Art Gallery opening for several of her creations in October of 2013 and continues to make art with hopes of owning her own boutique someday. Kerri is working on a site that will be called THE WORK OF ART where she will finally be putting her art up for sale.
In September of 2013, Kerri started acting again…….. STAY TUNED!!!”*
Location: I live in Albuquerque, NM.
1. How did you get into the industry?
I sorta “Fell” into the industry through a friend of a friend who did a film called WEDDING SLASHERS. My scene never made the final cut, but I was hooked on movie making from the moment I walked on set.
I have been hooked on Horror films since the age of 11. I can’t get enough blood, guts, and gore. The more the better! It intrigues me how they can make it look so real. My personal belief, the more challenging a role, the better it will be! I love to push my limits and comfort zones.
2. What Scream Queen inspired you most?
I’m sure most girls choose Elvira as their favorite Scream Queen, so in that respect, I’m no different! Cassandra Peterson is perfect in every way. I had a wonderful opportunity of meeting her and she is the sweetest women I think I have ever met. Down to earth, friendly, gorgeous and talented….you don’t get any better than that!
3. What are the next couple projects you are working on?
I am currently working on a few films and television shows that are here in NM. Mostly background work at the moment. I am collaborating with Brenden Wedner on some modeling shoots and even a trailer for a film he is writing. I also try to be involved with Renee Grey and her crew via the internet until we can actually arrange to meet in person. My schedule can change at a moments notice, I love to work on just about any projects that come my way and that surprise me.
