Another inevitable sequel is The Purge 2 which due to its $90 million worldwide haul from its $3 million production budget, we all knew this would be coming.  It was announced today when we will be seeing the next film.

Deadline is reporting to make a date for The Purge 2 which had gotten an official release date of June 20th, 2014.

The sequel will again be written, produced, and directed by original helmer James DeMonaco.   Producing partners will be Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions along with Sébastien K. Lemercier and Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.  No word yet on any casting choices.

The sequel was first made public in early June when it was awarded part of the California’s $100 million Film/TV tax credit this year, just before the original Purge came out on June 7.

The Purge starred Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey, and Max Burkholder and centered on the story where in the future, a wealthy family is held hostage for harboring the target of a murderous syndicate during the Purge, a 12-hour period in which any and all crime is legalized.
