Where Are They Now? : Jonathan Tiersten

JonathanTiersten Jonathan Tiersten, a New York native, was born in August of 1965.

After years of doing plays and musical theater, he started to take steps into becoming a mainstream actor. Fortunately, he didn’t have to take many steps towards this goal because his second on screen credit was the role of “Ricky” opposite Felissa Rose in the cult classic Sleepaway Camp in 1983. Fresh off the heels of this massive success, Tiersten started appearing in ‘After School Specials’ from 1984 – 1987. And then, well, he kind of disappeared…

So, where is Jonathan now?

His career saw a second wind towards the end of the 2000s decade, although this time the majority of jobs were behind the scenes. Jonathan is a talented musician, and with this talent he served as a soundtrack singer and composer for Closing The Deal in 2000, 2007’s thriller Juncture, Demption in 2008, the Plan 9 remake in 2013, and M is For Matchmaker in 2014.

His return to acting came in 2008 with the latest sequel in the franchise, Return to Sleepaway Camp. This was one of many new collaborations with scream queen Felissa Rose. The pair teamed up again for 2012’s The Perfect House, a film Tiersten also served as soundtrack singer and associate producer. Other credits include acting in the mystery-thriller Redemption and writing the script for the short film The Princess.

Jonathan is also the lead singer and guitarist for two bands, Ten Tiers and Bambi’s Apartment.

*Horror Society’s Michael Christopher Jones recently interviewed Jonathan in May of 2013. You can read the interview here.
