Sofia Black-D’Elia To Star In Blumhouse Thriller ‘Viral’!

Sofia Black-D'EliaSome casting news today for the upcoming Blumhouse outbreak thriller Viral. Sofia Black-D’Elia (pictured) has been cast in the lead for the film as a teenager who has to survive a deadly viral outbreak. She will join previously cast Analeigh Tipton in the film which was rewritten by Paranormal Activity5 scribe Christopher Landon. Read on for more details.

According to Deadline, Sofia Black-D’Elia has landed the lead role in Blumhouse thriller Viral. She’ll play teenager Emma, who is put to the test along with her family to survive a city-wide quarantine after a deadly outbreak, with the increasingly violent infected trapped inside.

The original Black List, Blood List, and Hit List script (formerly known as Peste) is by Barbara Marshall. Christopher Landon (Disturbia, Paranormal Activity 2, 3, 4, and 5) was tapped to rewrite. Earlier this week news broke the casting of Analeigh Tipton as Stacey, Emma’s sister. Catfish and Paranormal Activity 3 and 4 helmers Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost are directing the IM Global and Blumhouse Productions picture which Dimension is set to release. Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, Matt Kaplan of Chapter One Films and Sherryl Clark of Busted Shark are producing.
