The Girl Who Played with the Dead is the upcoming exploitation film from Wisconsin based director Cory J. Udler. Udler is the man responsible for the Incest Death Squad Trilogy and Mediatrix. All four of these films are films I would recommend to any horror fan and fans of movies in general.
Several months back I brought you beautiful people news that Udler was working on a new film called The Girl Who Played with the Dead. You can read the press release below:
Cory J. Udler, writer/director of the “Incest Death Squad” trilogy, readies new movie to premiere online live and free June 6th. MADISON, WI- Writer/Director Cory J. Udler, most known for his “Incest Death Squad” trilogy, “Mediatrix” and his work with legendary grindhouse icon Ted V. Mikels is putting the finishing touches on a new exploitation film called “The Girl Who Played With The Dead” and will premiere the movie live and free at INDIEHORROR.TV on June 6th.
The movie, filmed over 3 days in March and April of this year, stars Kristen Casey as “Lauren”, a girl who over the years has become obsessed with death, destruction and all things violent. A moment of clarity leads her to attempting a lifestyle change, but between visits from Satan, Ed Gein, Jeffrey Dahmer, Devil Lesbians and her dead sister (played by actor/director Shannon Lark) she finds that’s easier said than done. The movie was launched this past winter with a successful Indiegogo campaign, which allowed Udler some wiggle room with getting Lark and Lloyd Kaufman into the film. The success on social media and fundraising is also a major reason Udler has decided to premiere the film online for free. “There were so many people from so many corners of the country and even the world who have donated music, funds, support, well wishes and such that I wanted to do a premiere that everyone could attend”, Udler said. The live and free online premiere will be June 6th, 2014 at 10pm/9pm central United States time. It will be followed by what Udler calls a “no holds barred” live Skype question and answer session with him. INDIEHORROR.TV will be hosting the live premiere and Q&A.
To accompany the press release Udler sent me a link to the impressive trailer for the film. You can check that out below and support indie film making.
