Where Are They Now? : Crystal Lowe

CrystalLoweNot trying to sound like a tween sitcom theme song here, but when it comes to Crystal Lowe you really do get the best of both worlds. This beauty was born in January of 1981 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Shortly after her childhood began her family moved to Hong Kong, a multicultural area where she would spend the next few years of her life. Once she was of age, Crystal started doing beauty, modeling, and swimsuit competitions. This career path lead her to model video game characters in Need For Speed and Fight Night, but this was just the beginning of a lengthy career.

Crystal Lowe first burst onto the horror/scifi/thriller scene when she guest starred on an episode of “Stargate SG-1” in 1997. Her other noteworthy television credits include guest spots on “The Twilight Zone” in 2002, teen-drama “Life as We Know It” in 2004, lesbian-drama “The L Word” in 2005, “Masters of Horror” in 2006, “Killer Instinct” in 2006, drama-thriller “Falcon Beach” in 2007, two episodes of comedy-thriller “Psych” in 2007, “Bionic Woman” in 2007, “Stargate Atlantis” in 2008, and “Supernatural” in 2009. Though she mostly worked in our favorite genres of television, the fact that she also appeared in comedy, drama, teen, and lifestyle themed shows speaks only to her skills as a great actress.

Her film career, however, has been much more expansive and rewarding. Her first real gig was a cameo in the 2000 Sylvester Stallone movie, Get Carter. Her other small movie appearances include cameos and bit parts in Sanctimony (2001), Al Pacino’s Insomnia (2002), Eddie Murphy’s I Spy (2002), Thralls (2005), Scary Movie 4 (2006), Snakes on a Plane (2006), Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), Dane Cook’s Good Luck Chuck (2007), and Steven Seagal’s Driven to Kill (2009). Ms. Lowe has had her fair share of supporting and lead roles in horror movies, though, and those include Children of the Corn: Revelation (2001), Final Destination 3 (2006), Black Christmas (2006), Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007), and Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon (2008).

So, where is Crystal Lowe now?

The 2010s started off much as the previous years ended, with television spots and minor and larger roles in big movies.

As far as television goes, Crystal had guest spots on “R.L Stine’s Haunting Hour” in 2012 and “Almost Human” in 2014, as well as recurring roles on “Smallville” in 2010, “Primeval: New World” from 2012-2013, and “Signed Sealed Delivered” in 2014. As far as films are concerned, she is still very much involved in the cinematic industry. Her most recent films include a cameo in John Cusack’s Hot Tum Time Machine (2010) and lead roles in Killer Mountain (2011), A Little Bit Zombie (2012), and the upcoming Skate God (2015).

Off camera, Crystal Lowe’s credits include assisting in casting with Snakehead (2009), being thanked in A Ghost Within (2013), producing Fade Out (2013), and directing the upcoming short film Becoming Sophie (2015).

With 11 different horror/scifi roles on television and playing 12 different characters in horror/scifi films, I don’t think it will be long before we see Crystal again!
