Deadly Beauty: Horror’s Scream Queens and Rising Talent: Dani Thompson
“Dani Thompson is a London based Model, Actress and TV Presenter.
Born in Penrith, Australia, Dani’s family moved to England when she was very young and she grew up in a small country village near Norwich, Norfolk.
Dani turned down the chance to appear in a TV commercial at the age of four her reason being she was scared she’d get stuck in the TV.
After finishing school and studying fashion and textiles thinking she might want to be a costume designer Dani realized that she wanted to be in front of the camera rather than behind the scenes.
A friend recommended she have some pictures done and gave her the number of a local photographer, the pictures turned out well and were sent to ‘Supermodel agency’ who invited her for an interview and signed her up immediately. Dani moved to London and spent six years modelling and made a name for herself on the London party scene.
A big football fan, Dani has done presenting work for Nuts TV’s ‘Shed Sports One’ and betting show ‘888 Sport’ mostly interviewing football fans and getting involved in the banter in the studio.
Dani filmed a small role playing a ring girl called Keeley on ITV’s ‘The Fixer’ and was then was offered a role in British film ‘Just For The Record’ by the director, she loved being on set and decided she wanted to take acting seriously so she auditioned at The International School of Screen Acting (ISSA) where she was accepted on their one year post grad course. Dani worked hard at school putting all her focus and energy into learning her craft and graduated with a screening at BAFTA in the summer of 2010.
Dani’s film credits span from comedy to gritty drama to horror, her favourite movie genre is horror, she’s a big slasher movie fan so is working on breaking into the horror world as a scream princess and is building up quite a list of credits, she has also written a Dani’s Deadly Diary column for ‘Haunted’ magazine.
2013 saw Dani filming both in the UK and America. She also produced ‘Serial Kaller’ which was a script she’d been working on for some time. Serial Kaller is now complete and due for release towards the end of 2014. Dani has since appeared in numerous films including Christmas Slay, Zombie Women of Satan 2, Rock Band vs Vampires and Axe to Grind. As well as appearing in front of the camera she is writing and producing new projects such as Bad Moon Rising which is due to start filming Summer 2014.”*
Location: I’m a London based actress, I was actually born in Australia but my family moved to England when I was young and I grew up in the countryside but I’ve been in London for seven years now so I’d call it home.
1. How did you get into the industry?
I started out modelling. I’d modeled for about six years and through modelling I was offered a couple of small TV and film roles. I really liked being on set and I was thinking about what to do next in my career so I auditioned for a drama school, was accepted, studied hard and then since graduating I kind of fell in to the horror side of things. I’ve always been a horror fan though and it’s always much more fun to film so I’m glad it worked out that way.
2. What Scream Queen inspired you most?
I kind of got in to horror in the late 90’s so films like Scream, Urban Legend, I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Craft were the films that really made me love the genre, so which Scream Queens inspire me? I’d say probably Jennifer Love Hewitt, Rose McGowan and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
3. What are the next couple projects you are working on?
I’m about to start filming in the North of England for ‘Banjo’ the debut feature film from director Liam Regan which I’m very excited about and should also be filming ‘Bad Moon Rising’ later this year too which is set in Bulgaria.
