Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Review

mgsvgz

It’s been six years since we’ve heard about Metal Gear (and no Metal Gear Rising doesn’t count no matter what you say..) but Snake a.k.a Big Boss is back in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The game was developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami.

The game takes place a couple of months after Peace Walker, Snake goes to an American military base in Cuba called Camp Omega to rescue Paz Ortega and Ricardo “Chico” Valenciano who are part of Snake’s paramilitary called Militaires Sans Frontières or MSF. The two were captured by XOF’s leader known only as Skull Face. Though the game is only a couple hours long depending on how you play, it’s a good background story leading up to the actual story in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain which will be released sometime early 2015. When interviewed, the director of the game Hideo Kojima said he wanted the game to stray from the point A to point B style of games and go more into open world style. Unfortunately the voice actor of Snake (David Hayter) would not return for Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, instead he was replaced by the main star of the hit show “24” Kiefer Sutherland, who surprisingly did an excellent job with keeping him as the iconic badass we love. The game also offers side missions after completions of Ground Zeroes main mission including ones where you can play as Raiden (post MGS2 version) and retro style solid snake. Now normally I would recommend this to everyone, but since the game is very short and half priced than a normal game, I recommend it if you’re a die hard fan of the Metal Gear series such as myself, otherwise wait until The Phantom Pain is released.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is available now for XBOX ONE, XBOX360, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4.
