Monsterman's 31 Days of Halloween Horror Picks

The Monster Squad (1987)

I have a great monster mash-up in store for you guys tonight. The Monster Squad is a wonderful film featuring most, if not all of your favorite monsters in a family friendly homage to the classic Universal Monsters of the 1930’s through the 1950’s. They’re all there – Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Werewolf, The Mummy and the Gillman. It’s a film that’s light on blood, but scary enough your little ones can enjoy and be introduced to the world of monsters.

The Monster Squad is written by Shane Black (Lethal Weapon series) and Fred Dekker. Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps) also directs. It stars Andre Gower, Robby Kiger, Stephen Macht, Duncan Regehr, Tom Noonan, Brent Chalem, Ryan Lambert, Leonardo Cimino and Jon Gries.

Plot Synopsis

Young kids form a club that is devoted to monsters, but soon get more than they bargained for when Count Dracula adjourns to Earth, accompanied by Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and the Gillman. The uglies are in search of a powerful amulet that will grant them power to rule the world. Our heroes – the Monster Squad are the only ones daring to stand in their way.
