Marilyn Burns Of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Honored With “SCREAM QUEEN MVP” Award.

TEXAS-CHAINSAW-GOLDEN-HATCHET-AWARD

The Back Alley Film Series held their final screening of the horror classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre for a sold out crowd at the Crownpoint Cinema on October 27th. Local talents such as horror hostess Muticia the Movie Goddess and Charlotte’s own scream queen Ryli Morgan were on hand to present the first ever Golden Hatchet award for “Scream Queen MVP” in honor of Marilyn Burns and her performance as “Sally Hardesty” in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Marilyn Burns tragically passed away on August 5th earlier this year.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was recently re-released with remastered audio and video supervised by director Tobe Hooper. The Back Alley Film Series was responsible for orchestrating the theatrical screenings for the Charlotte area, giving many fans their first and only chance to see Hooper’s masterpiece on the big screen. Mutantville Productions was on hand to give out door prizes including a grand prize of weekend passes to the Mad Monster Party 2015 convention next March for the lucky winner of the “Scream-Off” contest.

When notified of the “Scream Queen MVP” award for her late friend Marilyn Burns, Terry McMinn, who played “Pam” alongside Marilyn in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, replied from her Facebook page that she was “So glad you’re honoring Marilyn! It’s well deserved and would make her so happy.”
