Indie horror screenwriter, author and director E. Stuart Marlowe released his horror/sci fi novel, CALL OF THE KAIJU. The book is being published by the Australian press, Severed Press.
Marlowe’s debut novel, MENAGERIE, became an Amazon bestseller in horror and science fiction.
CALL OF THE KAIJU follows Claudia York, oceanographer and commander lieutenant in the US Navy, as she tries to save ten young delinquents, lured to a deserted island by the military as bait, before a giant sea creature attacks. When the beast rises, the military strikes. It flees to India, where it rampages.
“I wanted to write a different kind of kaiju story, one where the monster takes a backseat to the really deranged humans,” said Marlowe. “I also felt like I could say something deeper about human sexuality using this premise. That’s really what this novel is about.”
The author found inspiration from current events. “The original Godzilla was a reaction to the atomic bomb. In this story, it’s man’s reckless disregard for the environment that gives birth to the creature. I allude to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, the Fukushima meltdown, and smog.”
