She is the first-born creation of Death, his Eve; the embodiment of his dark creative spirit, limitless guile, and soaring ambition. From high atop her spired tower, Gethsemoni, Queen of the Dead, oversees the realm of the Underworld before her. As Death’s appointed Regent she rules the Court of the Dead, a contentious assembly of beings of the netherworld that are driven by Death’s quest to Rise,Conquer, Rule!
Sideshow Collectibles was gracious enough to provide me with the Queen of the Dead figure to review!
The Queen of the Dead Premium Format Figure is now available to purchase from Sideshow Collectibles.
Upon initial observations of the packaging, it comes in an incredibly designed box that really showcases the Queen with really nice artwork that will entice any shopper to purchase. This is one box that you will want to hold onto, not only for how cool it is but to protect your investment if you ever need to move it. The contents are very well protected in a Styrofoam case.
Out of the box the contents come in basically four separate pieces. First, you have the base which is heavy and nicely adorned. Next the full Queen piece is separate and inserts into the base very easily and once inserted is very solid and sturdy. Lastly, there are two other pieces which can only be described as the Queen’s deathly minions that gather at her feet. They both get inserted into the base, but be careful with these two because they insert right around the Queen’s legs and you don’t want to break them because they are smaller and it is a tight space putting them in. There is one final accessory that comes in the package and that is the Queen’s wrap that covers her lower half. The wrap itself contains wire inside the fabric that allows to bend and position the wrap however you see fit. The entire time it takes to assemble the Queen and her minions to the base and add her wrap is mere minutes, very easy to do.
Once completely assembled, all I can say is Wow! – The Queen of the Dead is one exquisite piece of dark art. I have been collecting horror figures and toys for a lot of years and this is one of the finest pieces that I have ever seen. The sculpt itself and attention to detail on the finished product is nothing short of breathtaking. Every minute detail is attended to from the intricate painting of the figure to her sexy attire. The detail in everything from the skeletal hands which cover her breasts to her pieces of jewelry she wears is incredible. The tattoos on her back, birthmarks on her body and makeup on her face are all examples of just how realistic the paint job really is. The deathly corpse-like pallor of her skin really exhibits why she is the Queen of the Dead.
The figure including the base weighs in at 15 lbs. and feels like a heavy piece of art that you will want to keep for a long time. Sideshow Collectibles and everyone involved with the design and production of this figure have really outdone themselves. Because it is a premium format figure, the price is not cheap at $379.99 but because of the quality of this collectible it is worth every penny. You will want to find a place of distinction in your house to show off this exceptional piece of dark art, it’s that cool! Sideshow Collectibles Queen of the Dead Premium Format Figure really belongs in a classy art gallery but now you can have her as part of your own collection for many years to come.
