Sickly Talented: Jamie Grove

jamieheadshotHere’s another Sickly Talented artist that I follow on Instagram, Mr. Jamie S. Grove.

Jamie Grove started out as most young, talented, aspiring artists do, watching movies like Halloween, Jaws, and Terminator and wondering how the Hell did they do that? Fast forward a number of years later, and he’s one of the leading special effects artists and technicians in the business. He’s worked on some of Hollywood’s biggest horror and science fiction blockbusters and noteworthy straight-to-DVD titles.

He’s mostly known for his special effects make-up work, though. His previous credits in this field include The Cabin in the Woods, The Collection, The Collector, Cowboys & Aliens, The Devil’s Rejects, Hellraiser: Revelations, Incubus, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Piranha 3DD, Pulse, Pulse 2, and Pulse 3.

That doesn’t mean he’s a one trick pony by any means. Grove is also skilled in all other areas of special effects creation, such as art department, sculptor, molder, painter, and literally everything in between. His previous credits in these categories include Avatar, Feast, Iron Man 3, Scary Movie 5, Star Trek, and Transformers.

But his career in the arts doesn’t stop there! Jamie is an instructor at the world renowned Stan Winston School, an online academy which offers virtual courses and on demand training in all areas of special effects. You can see a video of Jamie creating a zombie bust live at Monsterpalooza in promotion of Stan Winston School just below!

With all this said, there’s no doubt in my mind that Jamie Grove is a Sickly Talented dude! Don’t forget to check under the video for awesome examples of his work!
