Demons in VA: Prepare to be taken over with ‘The Possession Experiment.’

10468209_763591350376560_4524714145133510252_nA few days ago news in relation to The Possession Experiment made it across my desk and I have to admit I was quite intrigued. To be honest, I have somewhat of a fascination with possession, exorcism and the demonic due to the notion that they could be real. What really grabbed my interest in this particular title is the fact that it’s a traditional narrative film and not done in the style of found footage, a way of film making that is littering the independent film genre with substandard quality productions. Now, a few days later, I have it on good authority that The Possession Experiment is one of the most groundbreaking films of its genre in recent years and a title that will be making waves in the very new future. So here’s your chance to learn a little about it before it takes over.

The Possession Experiment was written by Mary Dixon and directed by Scott B. Hansen. Hansen has shot and released five short films, one feature and worked behind the camera on 2013’s Texas Chainsaw 3D. The duo also co-produced the film along with Gregory Anthony, Todd Grubbs, Matt Lockhart, Angela Reyes, Todd Slater, Nick Tarzia, Luis Tejada and Bob Winegard. Poffo Ortiz performed the special effects along with Harold Clark and expert choreography from Jason Michael Tuthill which was all edited together by Chris Roll and and Anthony Miralles. Legendary horror actor Bill Moseley (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Devil’s Rejects) appears alongside cast members including Greg Travis (Humanoids from the Deep, Rob Zombie’s H2), Chris Minor, Jake Brinn, Nicky Jasper, Angelo Reyes, Terry Jernigan, Rachel Faulkner, Ryan Ware and Kt Fanelli.

This title was filmed in Virginia Beach, Virginia and wrapped production sometime in 2014 under Digital Thunderdome. It is currently nearing the end of post-production and the plot will follow Brandon Jensen (Chris Minor), a college student who’s always been a fan of horror. When a theology project lets him study exorcism and possession, he decides to go all out and taps into a world that has been hidden away from society. Raising money through an online funding campaign, Brandon puts together a small group of friends (Jake Brinn and Nicky Jasper) and live-streams his attempt at being voluntarily possessed by a demon who killed several people twenty years ago. This is… The Possession Experiment.
