Looking for a good, largely independent horror feature to see in the theaters this weekend? Well, look no further as Dark Awakening has officially hit the box office and is now screening in select Malco Theaters. I’ve included .jpgs for all future theaters, too, as it looks like additional theaters will be added to the line up as the film progresses through its box office run. This weekend, though, look for it around Arkansas, Arizona, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada and Tennessee.
Dark Awakening is written and directed by Dean Jones with Josh Edwards and executive producer Michele Weisler (The Ring). The movie stars Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Pumpkinhead), Jason Cook (“Days of Our Lives,” “General Hospital”), Valerie Azlynn (“Castle,” “iCarly”), William Pifer, Lauren Sesselmann and Robert Crayton.
The film follows: “District attorney James Thomas who decides to move his wife and seven year old son to the family’s estate home in rural Cedar Rock Falls, North Carolina. Shortly after the transition Jennifer and Danny begin to experience strange paranormal occurrences. The house is haunted by the apparitions of nine dead children. Seeking answers and solace for the nightmare they are going through Jennifer approaches the local parish priest. Unfortunately the mystery deepens as she discovers that he holds the darkest secret of all. He is cognizant of the origins of the dead children, the reason for their resurrection, and how and why it ties to her beloved husband James.”
