This is it, the season one finale of MTV’s “Scream: The TV Series.” Honestly, the ten episode first run of show was either hit or miss, with episodes that were semi-shocking and interesting or episodes that were boring as fuck. Finally, though, the identity of the killer is about to be revealed so buckle up and enjoy my TV Recap!

The final season one episode starts with a quick and simple dedication to the late, great, iconic Wes Craven, who served as executive producer for the show. “Thanks for the screams.” This is, honestly, the most heart-breaking moment of the show. We truly lost a great man who had given us so much. Over a week later and it still stings. When we return to the action, the school dance is interrupted by a live feed of Sheriff Clark tortured and bound to a tree projecting on a large monitor over the DJ booth. Maggie says she spoke with authorities and Mr. Branson escaped his jail cell after killing the guard who was watching him, but the crime scene looks staged. Maggie tells Emma to stay at the dance where it’s safe – has she never seen a scary movie? – and goes to work. Piper follows suit, as a journalist, and tells Emma not to trust anyone. Um, ok?

Emma tries calling Kieran, but he ignores the phone call because he’s too busy loading his handgun in his car in a field somewhere. She leaves him a voicemail telling him to call her back and that Ghostface has his Dad and he’s “in trouble.” Noah, always displaying his ability to be an FBI code cracker in the future, starts tracking the signal from the live feed that’s broadcasting through his AV system, but it’s going to take some time. Ghostface calls Emma and tells her that tonight is the finale and people want to see blood. Yes, we do. Ghostface also says that it’s time to see what she’s learned and she better come find Sheriff Clark before it’s too late. After the phone call, Ghostface appears on the live feed in front of Sheriff Clark and turns off the camera streaming the video. For whatever reason, everyone at the high school dance panics and makes a run for it.

Scream: The TV Series, Episode 10 – “Revelations”

Meanwhile, Brooke is having a pool party at her house and all the cool kids are there. One of them, nicknamed “douchbag,” dresses up as Brandon James and scares Brooke. She’s pissed off and wondering where her real friends are, but it’s shown that her text messages aren’t going through as are Emma’s. Apparently, Ghostface has the technology to hack phones and block phone numbers and texts. Audrey is at the party and tells Brooke about her and Emma’s fight, and the two young ladies have a bonding moment. Jake is still trying to get with the girl dressed as a Playboy bunny in attempt to make Brooke jealous, so in return she macks on a random dude, nicknamed “board shorts,” to get back at Jake before returning to her girl time with Audrey. She soon finds herself out of wine and retreats to the wine cellar for a couple good bottles, but not before telling Audrey not to let anyone inside the house.

Maggie is dressed up in her morgue outfit, because she just had to change, and is taking pictures of the crime scene. After a couple snaps, she tells the other officers to untie the body from the jail cell bars and wheel him out. Maggie meets Emma in the police station lobby and Emma reminds her mother that the killer left clues on Will’s body when he was kidnapped. Maggie checks the dead police officer and discovers – now how the fuck did you miss this?! – the heart shaped necklace that Brandon gave her when they were kids stuffed in the dead officer’s mouth. Emma puts two and two together and determines that Sheriff Clark is being kept at Brandon James’ childhood home. They race over there with police back-up, though Maggie had time to change again, and find Sheriff Clark tied to the tree, but still alive!

Maggie starts cutting him down, while he whispers that something doesn’t feel right. As she undoes the rope around his chest, it’s revealed that the rope was holding all of his inner organs in place. So, when she unties it, all of his major organs fall from his stomach and onto his shoes, killing him rather quickly. As the ambulance takes away his dead body, Maggie remarks that the killer kept him alive just so she could try and save him and fail. Emma says the similarity to how Will’s death was “her fault.” They decide that they can’t let the killer win. Just then, Noah calls and says that he finally found the location of Ghostface’s live feed… Brooke’s house! And everyone is there! They hop in the car and head over there while commenting that this is the finale, Emma is the survival girl and he’s the nerdy best friend. “I’m going to die!”

“Douchbag” has to pee and attempts to enter Brooke’s house, but Audrey stops him and tells him to go use the bathroom near the pool-house instead. Playboy bunny girl needs to use the bathroom next and opens the door to find “douchbag” laying on the floor with his throat slashed open, very dead. She screams and alerts the other partiers to the danger that the killer is around and they all take off running, too. Audrey finds herself alone in the backyard and tries to find Brooke and Jake, but is confronted by Ghostface. He pins her to a wall and raises his knife in the air with Audrey asking him, “What are you waiting for?” He stabs down and the camera cuts away, so we don’t know what happens. Brooke comes out of the wine cellar and is shocked to see that the party dissipated in about five minutes. She hears rustling in the bushes nearby and runs inside just as Mr. Branson pops out at her.

He begs her to let let him inside, but Brooke is put off by his appearance and the fact that he should still be in jail. He tries to force his way into the house, but Brooke keeps locking the doors and windows, keeping him out. The power goes off and when it turns back on, Mr. Branson is no longer in front of the door…but Ghostface is! There’s a small chase scene ending with Brooke hiding in the meat freezer in the garage where her dad, the mayor, hid the body of the guy who OD’ed in the guest bedroom. Ghostface locks Brooke in the freezer and jams his knife through the sides, slicing her open a couple times. When he’s done with the fun, he turns the freezer to its highest setting, essentially starting to freeze her to death inside the box. Emma and Noah arrive at the now vacant party and find Piper’s car. It’s got a bloody hand-print on the door and Piper’s glasses and tape recorder are on the ground, also covered in blood.

They begin to search the house and run into Kieran. There’s some tension between the friends as Emma and Noah aren’t so sure they can trust Kieran after the surprise video of him and Nina. Kieran has a gun and gives it to Emma, telling her to shoot him if she really believes he’s the killer. Emma finally trusts him and they embrace, but then she’s forced to ell Kieran that Ghostface killed his father. Kieran isn’t too upset about it for some reason and he joins the group that’s out for the killer’s blood. Inside the house, the group runs into Jake and then they run into Audrey, who somehow escaped Ghostface with nothing but a stab wound to her arm. They hear banging coming from the garage and break open the freezer just in time to save Brooke from freezing to death, who comments that she “really hates that freezer.” It seems that everyone is safe for now, until Emma gets a phone call from Ghostface telling her to come to the dock…or Maggie gets it.

Emma follows directions for once and shows up at the dock to find Maggie tied to chair, but still very much alive. Emma tries to untie her, but Maggie warns her that Ghostface has showed up at the other end. Ghostface slowly takes off his mask and the person that killed Nina, Tyler, Rachel, Riley, Will, Random Cop, Sheriff Clark and “douchbag” is revealed to be… Piper! She quickly confirms that she is indeed Maggie and Brandon James’ daughter that was given up for adoption by saying, “hey, sis,” to Emma. Piper says it’s funny that no one thought a female could be the killer even though it’s 2015 and women are capable of so much more now adays. She also gloats about how much fun it was to watch Emma in pain while her friends were killed and the ones left alive were always exposing their dirty deeds and mistrust to her. Piper’s motive is very simple: revenge. Maggie got Brandon, her father, killed. Maggie gave Piper up for adoption. Then Maggie spent the following years painting Brandon as a psycho while enjoying the perfect life with Emma yet Piper’s life was ruined.

As with Scream 1 – 4, Piper’s goal is to kill the survivor girl, kill Mr. Brandon and blame the murders on him, and take the title as the soul survivor who stopped the bloodbath. This starts a major fight that results in Emma getting slashed in stomach, Maggie getting stabbed in the chest, and Piper really just kicking ass on her own. Piper is about to finish Emma off once and for all when Audrey appears out of no where and shoots her in the head. Piper falls into the lake, much in the same way that Brandon James did, bringing the family’s death full circle. Also as with Scream 1 -4, Piper comes back from the grave for more violence, but Emma shoots her in the head, stating “they always come back.” It’s over.

Following the aftermath, the police are still searching the lake for Piper’s body. Noah takes over Piper’s podcast and radio show. Brooke and Jake finally end up together. Emma and Kieran get back together…again. And the first season concludes with Audrey burning the evidence stolen from County Records and correspondence from Piper. This means that Audrey could be the second killer or the mastermind behind the whole thing. But… We fade to black on that cliffhanger.
