Robert Englund to voice a new kind of horror in Abruptio!

HellBent Pictures is taking horror to new depths with its feature, Abruptio, currently in production. All of the characters in this dark film will be acted entirely by full-sized puppets and operated by puppeteers.

Horror icon Robert Englund will be lending his voice to one of the lifelike puppets, joining a cast that includes James Marsters, Sid Haig and Christopher McDonald.

Written by Evan Marlowe, Abruptio is a twisted tale about Les Hackel (James Marsters), who discovers that a sinister race of beings is manipulating mankind in order to cause chaos. He must uncover their plan before the explosive they’ve implanted in his neck detonates.

Englund is best known for playing the character Freddy Krueger in the A Nightmare on Elm Street films. This time around he will be portraying Mr. Salk, a neurotic accountant with crippling OCD who is forced to commit crimes — namely, dragging people into a giant meat grinder — alongside Les.

“I am incredibly honored to have legends like Sid Haig and Robert Englund on board,” Marlowe says. “These are some of the guys who made me fall in love with the genre, who have that rare talent to terrify as they make you laugh. That’s such a critical aspect of Abruptio.”

Principle photography of the puppets is set to start in 2016, with most of the main voices in the can this year.
