Well, someone is going to get fired for not paying attention…
Residents of Chillicothe, Ohio were shocked and horrified this week when the body of a young woman was found hanging from a chain link fence. The worst part is – her body was hanging from the fence for an unspecified amount of time due to passersby mistaking her corpse for Halloween decorations!
On Tuesday, October 13, police received a phone call from bystanders – some sources say construction workers, others say a man walking his dog – alerting them to the fact that a woman’s body was hanging from a fence near American Electric Power in Chillicothe, Ohio. “At least one person” is reported to have walked by the victim before someone stopped, noticed the decorations were too life-like and alerted authorities that the so-called Halloween decoration was the body of a woman later identified as Rebecca Cade. Cade, age 31, was described as a street runner with a history of drug addiction; however, she was also extremely caring and naive. This may have contributed to her downfall.
A blood trail and a series of clues led investigators to Donnie Cochenour Jr., aged 27, the boyfriend of the deceased. He was arrested under the suspicious of murder and confessed while in custody that he got into an argument with Cade on the night she died. The argument turned physical and Cade tried to flee from Cochenour. She failed in her attempt to escape, getting caught on the fence by her shirtsleeve, and was left helpless for her attacker. She died after receiving several blows to the head and neck with a blunt object from Cochenour. He is currently being held on a $2,000,000 bond.
Her death is currently being listed as unrelated to the series of other murders in Chillicothe that have been taking place since May 2014.
