Principal photography has wrapped on Harvest Lake, director Scott Schirmer’s follow-up to the award-winning Found. “It’s strange, it’s sexy, and it’s creepy. I like that combination,” says Schirmer, who also wrote the screenplay. “When you watch this movie, you wander into a sort of sexual Bermuda Triangle, and before you know it, you’re in an erotic creature feature.”
The film centers on a group of vacationing campers who stumble under the spell of a libidinous, otherworldly presence in the woods. Inhibitions drop and behavior becomes erratic as one of the friends tries to escape the carnal free-fall, ultimately bringing him face to face with the source of a mystery that will change his life forever.
Harvest Lake stars Tristan Risk (American Mary, The Editor), Ellie Church (Headless, Time to Kill) , Jason Crowe (Dead Moon Rising, Easter Casket), Dan Nye (The Legend of Wasco, Rhonda Rides to Hell), and Kevin Roach (Volumes of Blood, The Confession of Fred Krueger). The film is the first co-production of Forbidden Films (Headless, Found) and Mostly Harmless Pictures (Time to Kill), produced by Schirmer and Brian K. Williams, who is also editor and director of photography. Arthur Cullipher (Headless) is associate producer, with his Clockwerk Creature Company providing the special makeup effects.
The film will enter the festival circuit next spring, but in the meantime Williams and Schirmer are fundraising for post-production, festival, and promotional expenses. Through November 20th, you can contribute to the film and receive special thanks credit and a limited edition blu-ray copy of the film that will ship in January, months ahead of the movie’s festival premiere.
