Troma’s Women in Cinema: Introducing Kansas Bowling, Director of “BC Butcher” and the Female Directors of Troma Films Past

12e8039c-ba42-493b-8593-cb11d3080606 January 2016 marks the world premiere of Kansas Bowling’s debut cave-woman movie, “B.C. Butcher”on the Troma Now channel. To supplement this important cinematic event, legendary filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment and the creator of “The Toxic Avenger” and the teenage female director Kansas Bowling cross interview one another regarding “B.C. Butcher” and Troma’s pioneering dedication to powerful women through their movies since the cinematic c-section birth of Troma Films in 1974. Bowling discusses “B.C. Butcher” as a metaphorical women’s rights movie set against a prehistoric mise-en-scene. She was drawn to Troma entertainment because of its reputation for portraying females in a heroic, strong and shit-disturbing light. Further, Bowling and Kaufman discuss the representation of women in various Troma Film releases.

At just 17 years old, Kansas Bowling became the youngest female director to creatively contribute to Troma Film history with “B.C. Butcher” and was selected as first inductee into the Troma Institute for the Gifted. “B.C. Butcher” is set to be released exclusively on Troma Now as an exclusive pre-theatrical premiere for January’s content.

Other female filmmakers selected to join Bowling on the menu for the January Troma Now channel include; Super Tromette Elske McCain, writer and producer of “Jessicka Rabid”, October Kingsley, director of “The Seduction of Dr. Fugazzi” and TromaDance selectee and star of hit television show “The Office”‘s Jenna Fischer who wrote, directed and produced “LolliLove”. Also included are, Deryn Warren, director of “Mirror of Death” and Laura Keats, creator of “Crystal Force”.

The Kansas Bowling/Lloyd Kaufman interview is be available for streaming on the Troma Nowchannel as an insightful reflection into the first thematic schedule for the Troma Now channel. January releases on Troma Now will include all of the films mentioned above in addition to 5 classics from the Tromarchives, available to subscribers for $4.99 a month. Forthcoming months on Troma Now will similarly use themes representing various film genres, authorship and related content to educate Troma Fans and provide them with exclusive and unique content.
