It was confirmed earlier today by his long-time agent that actor David Margulies has passed away due to what has been described only as “a longtime illness.” He was 78-years-old.

Margulies was a veteran actor specifically in dramas, comedies, thrillers and mysteries. He played dozens and dozens of parts in movies such as The Front (1976), Dressed to Kill (1980), Running on Empty (1988), Perfect Witness (1989), Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), Lifebreath (1997), Ira & Abby (2006) and Roadie (2011).

He will most be known to the horror film industry, though, for his role as the Mayor of NYC in Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989). I know this film franchise has a huge following and many will be saddened by this loss.

David also had a recurring role as Neil Mink in “The Sopranos” from 2000 to 2007.

All of us here at HorrorSociety.com send our condolences to his family, friends and fans.
