Night of the Wild: watch if you dare…

As horror fans we’ve become desensitized to a lot of gory subject material, especially within the last fifteen or so years. Still, there are a handful of plot points that are off limits to most viewers; children’s deaths, rape… and animal abuse. As I can’t find myself stomaching a viewing of I Spit on Your Grave (or its sequels), I don’t think I’ll be able to sit through Night of the Wild – a horror film about killing dogs. But, hey, maybe this is something that interests you, you sick bastard!

Night of the Wild is basically Cujo meets The Crazies. As production company The Asylum summarizes, “When a large meteor crashes into a quiet town, pet dogs become mysteriously aggressive – attacking and killing the residents. Teenager Roslyn and her old but faithful dog Shep are out camping when the attacks hit. Now separated by the chaos in town and blocked roads, Roslyn and the other members of her family must find each other by fighting back against the blood-thirsty hounds before the dogs take over the whole town and escape becomes impossible.”

I know that Night of the Lepus was a creature feature about attacking bunnies and the whole Sharknado franchise sees sharks getting massacred time and time again, but mans’ best friend? Blasphemy! I would literally cry every time one of the dogs got stabbed or shot. Only reason I know this happens is because I watched the trailer, which I have provided for you below. I don’t know if I want to give writer Delondra Williams (who previously penned Blood Lake) and director Eric Red of Hitcher fame any sort of props for attempting a plot that is bound to piss a lot of people off or shame them for making me upset.

Either way, Night of the Wild is currently available on DVD and VOD… Poor puppies…

Film stars Rob Morrow (“Numbers”), Kelly Rutherford (“Gossip Girl”), Tristin Mays (“The Vampire Diaries”), Carmen Tonry and Jill Zarin.
