Geena Davis Boards the Cast of ‘THE EXORCIST’ TV Pilot!

Geena DavisIt looks as if Fox is adding a little bit of star power to their upcoming TV adaptation of The Exorcist. Geena Davis has been tapped to star in the horror drama alongside Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels.

The pilot is said to be based on William Peter Blatty’s original novel from 1971.

The Exorcist, penned by feature writer Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four), is described as a modern reinvention of the book, previously adapted into William Friedkin’s classic horror movie. It is a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men — Father Tomas Ortega (Herrera) and Father Marcus Lang (Daniels) — tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil.

Davis will play Angela Rance. Naturally beautiful, regal and proud but weighed down by stress, Angela does everything she can to stay positive and keep her faith even though her family is currently struggling. She can’t help but think, however, if perhaps her nightmares about a demon are a sign of what’s wrong.

Davis has previously dipped her toes into the genre pool with films such as The Fly, Beetlejuice, and the comedy Transylvania 6-5000.

Slater, who wrote the script, executive produces alongside James Robinson, David Robinson and Barbara Wall for 20th Century Fox TV and Morgan Creek Prods.

For right now, Fox has only ordered the pilot episode to be filmed and we’ll have to see how that does with the public before we know whether it will be picked up for series.
