12891746_10156735424055581_8804374085015703614_oOne of the many privileges of working for HorrorSociety is that I discover talented filmmakers on a weekly basis, and in return I get to showcase their work to all our of readers. Through the use of social media, I discovered a new short film titled The Suitor from Michael Boylan. Boylan has been working as a filmmaker for several years already, but this is my first introduction to his work and his company, Pennant Films.

In association with Silver Style Pictures, Boylan directed and edited this 11 minute short film starring Patrick Monaghan, Kaylin Iannone and Brandon Allentoff. The screenplay was written by Matthew Strippoli, brought to life with help from cinematographer Michael Altino and featuring original scores by Jon Altino and special effects by Michelle Connolly.

The Suitor is a little short on horror, but it does feature creepiness, awkwardness, old school fog and slow building nostalgia. The plot simply follows the perfect date night between a girl, her suitor… and her dead father. (It also has some exquisite camera work!! wow!!)
