  • 1989 – Imogen Poots, appeared in “Fright Night” remake, “Centurion”, “28 Weeks Later” and “Green Room.”
  • 1980 – Billy Slaughter who appeared in “Blood Feast 2: All You Can Eat.”
  • 1964 – James Purefoy, appears as “Joe Carroll” in “The Following”, “Solomon Kane”, “Frankenstein (TV Movie)”, “Resident Evil.”
  • 1958 – Scott Valentine who appeared in the films “My Demon Lover,” “Deadtime Stories” and in the TV series “The Black Scorpion.”
  • 1950 – Robert Z’Dar, who played the character of “Matt Cordell,” the “Maniac Cop.” He also starred in the films “Hellhole,” “Soultaker” and “The Rockville Slayer.”
  • 1925 – The one and only Tony Curtis who starred in “The Manitou,” “The Boston Strangler” and appeared in the 1966 film “Chamber of Horrors.”
  • 1924 – The writer/producer/director of “Carnival of Souls,” Herk Harvey.
  • 1924 – Coleen Dewhurst who appeared in “The Dead Zone,” “When a Stranger Calls” and provided the voice of Satan in the film “Exorcist III.”
  • 1901 – Maurice Evans who appeared in “Terror of the Wax Museum,” “Rosemary’s Baby” and as “Dr. Zaius” in both “Planet of the Apes” and “Beneath the Planet of the Apes.” He also appeared as the “Clock King” on the “Batman” TV show and as “Maurice” on the “Bewitched” TV series.

DIED ON THIS DAY IN HORROR HISTORY 

  • 2011 – James Arness, best known for playing “Marshall Matt Dillon” in “Gunsmoke.” He also appeared as the creature in “The Thing from Another World” and “Them!” He was 88.
  • 2009 – David Carradine, son of the great John Carradine, passed away at the age of 72. He starred as “Caine” in the TV series “Kung Fu,” and in the films “Deathrace 2000” (playing “Frankenstein”), “Q,” and “Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat” (playing “Dracula”).
  • 2006 – George Kashdan, who wrote for DC based cartoons such as “Aquaman,” “The Justice League” and “The Adventures of Superman,” passed away at the age of 78.
  • 2004 – Harold Goodwin, who appeared in many Hammer films including “Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb,” “Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed” and “Phantom of the Opera” (1962), passed away at the age of 86.
  • 2001 – Anthony Quinn who appeared as “Quasimodo” in the 1957 version of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” passed away at the age of 86.
  • 1992 – William M. Gaines who created the EC line of horror comics, including “Tales From the Crypt,” passed away at the age of 70.
  • 1992 – British character actor Robert Morley, who appeared in the 1963 version of “The Old Dark House,” “A Study in Terror” and “Theater of Blood,” passed away at the age of 82.
  • 1991 – Andy Milligan who directed such classics as “The Rats Are Coming, the Werewolves Are Here,” “The Ghastly Ones” and “The Bloodthirsty Butchers,” passed away at the age of 61.
