BORN ON THIS DAY IN HORROR HISTORY 

  • 1989 – Christopher Mintz-Plasse a.k.a. “McLovin,” who starred as the “Red Mist” in “Kick Ass,” and “Evil Ed” in the remake of “Fright Night.”
  • 1971 – Josh Lucas, who co-starred in “The Hulk” (2003), “Session 9″ and “American Psycho.”
  • 1968 – Writer/producer/director/editor/composer Robert Rodriguez who directed the films “From Dusk Til Dawn,” “The Faculty,” “Sin City” and the “Planet Terror” half of the “Grindhouse” double feature.
  • 1967 – Nicole Kidman who starred in “The Others,” “The Stepford Wives” (2004), “The Invasion,” as “Samantha” in the 2005 remake of “Bewitched” and “Batman Forever.” If you listen real close during the film “Panic Room,” you can hear her as the girlfriend’s voice on the phone.
  • 1952 – John Goodman, who played “Lawerence Woolsey,” a character based on William Castle, in the film Matinee” and appeared in “Arachnophobia” and “C.H.U.D.”
  • 1947 – Candy Clark who appeared in the films “The Man Who Fell To Earth” the 1988 version of “The Blob,” “Zodiac” (2007), “Amityville 3D” and played “Buffy’s Mom” in the film version of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.”
  • 1933 – Brett Halsey who starred in “Return of the Fly,” and appeared in “Revenge of the Creature” and “Twice Told Tales.”
  • 1931 – Martin Landau who starred in the TV series “Space 1999″ and the films “Without Warning” and “Ed Wood,” for which he received a well deserved Oscar for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi. He was Gene Roddenberry’s first choice to play Mr. Spock, but the role went to Leonard Nimoy, who later replaced Landau on the “Mission Impossible” TV series.
  • 1919 – Bruce Gordon who appeared in the films “Curse of the Undead,” “Tower of London” and “Piranha.” He was also the secret identity of the comic book hero/villain “Eclipso.” Well, not really but they had the same name.
  • 1909 – William Castle’s favorite writer, Robb White, whose screenplays included “Macabre,” “House On Haunted Hill” and “The Tingler.”

DIED ON THIS DAY IN HORROR HISTORY

  • 1986 – Tim Herbert, who appeared in “The Boston Strangler” and “Duel,” passed away at the age of 71.
  • 1984 – Estelle Winwood, who co-starred in the films “The Magic Sword,” “The Cabinet of Calagari” and was “Aunt Hilda” on the “Batman” TV series, passed away at the age of 101.
  • 1978 – Mark Robson, who directed “Isle Of The Dead,” “The 7th Victim” and “Bedlam,” passed away at the age of 64.
