What makes a franchise a franchise?  Does it have to have more than three films?  Is just three films a trilogy and not a franchise?  I often wondered this when I grab a box set of three films and it says something catchy like “grab the whole franchise” or “own the whole series” when deep down it should say “own the trilogy.”

Sometime ago, after I had bought the first two Evil Bong films, I found a box set with the first three together and it said fans could now own the whole franchise.  That pissed me off and I refused to buy it.  It was a trilogy at this point and not a franchise.  I bought the third film in a box set from Mill Creek Entertainment with several Full Moon flicks for a little under $5.  After watching the first two films it was only fitting to follow it up with the third film that is out of this world.

**Spoiler Alert**The film begins with a man (Irwin Keyes) who is burying the body of his wife that he recently murdered.  When he finishes burying the body something crashes to Earth.  He investigates and learns that it is a meteor with an intergalactic bong on top.  He grabs it and takes it back to a local head shop which is owned by Bachman (Eakins) and Brett (Lloyd) where he sells it to them.

Not long after that, Alistair (Stickles) shows up.  He is now a scientist and was investigating the meteor when Larnell (Jordan) sneaks up on him.  Larnell has been living off the grid and training to be a ninja.  They visit Bachman and Brett’s head shop where they find the bong and smoke from it.  They quickly learn that this bong is hellbent on taking over the world.  They must partner with EB (Evil Bong) in order to stop the take over.**Spoiler Alert**

I love sequels and remakes.  I honestly do.  While people are bitching about them you can find me in a theater checking them out.  Sequels can usually be fun but the third in a series is usually a quick cash grab that offer up very little entertainment.  With that being said, Evil Bong 3 was a very entertaining film.  Hell, it was just as good, if not better, than the first film.

The acting in this one was more of the same from the other two films.  John Patrick Jordan, Mitch Eakins, Brian Lloyd, and Sonny Carl Davis all return in their roles as Larnell, Bachman, Brett, and Rabbit.  Sadly, we have another actor portraying Alistair.  Peter Stickles is the new Alistair and he just does not cut it in the role.  The remainder of the cast gives us the characters we keep coming back to watch but Stickles is not the Alistair that made the films so fucking fun.

The story for this one is still the same as what we had established in the first two films.  The cast is sitting in a small room smoking pot and are then sucked into the bog where aliens harvest their semen.  Ok, that last part was new but most of the film is still the same as the first two films.  It is small, compact sets that are very cost efficient and easy to maintain.  I assume that the Evil Bong series is a way Band can make some quick cash while he is waiting on another film to be edited.

Finally, if you are looking for blood then this is yet another one that you will not enjoy.  The film has some great space-themed sets that reminded me a lot of the sci-fi films of the 50s.  Overall, Evil Bong 3: The Wrath of Bong is another solid entry in the Evil Bongseries.  The film is cheap and not much in the way of story but still has some laughs and lovable characters.  It is well worth the watch.
