The countdown to #PUFF16 has begun with a free ($2 BYOB) screening of LAKE NOWHERE on July 16th at 8:00 PM. Described as “nostalgic, cheesy fun” by Bloody Disgusting (http://bloody-disgusting.com/reviews/3370625/review-lake-nowhere-nostalgic-cheesy-fun), LAKE NOWHERE is a throwback to the golden age of slasher films. The cast and crew of LAKE NOWHERE will be in attendance for the pre-release screening presented by the Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival. The crew will also be premiering a special behind-the-scenes featurette before the official Blu-ray release.
Inspired by the dusty days of VHS, LAKE NOWHERE is preceded by original trailers and commercials, replicating the experience of watching a long lost bootleg tape. When a group of friends arrive at a desolate lakeside cabin, they are stalked and murdered by a Masked Maniac, whose lust for blood transcends our world. This age-old tale of senseless slaughter quickly spirals into the realm of supernatural horror and classic monster movies, as we learn the true power that lies within LAKE NOWHERE.
The Philadelphia premiere of LAKE NOWHERE is part of a ongoing monthly series of free films to promote the launch of the Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival. The free event will be held at the the hybrid video rental store and coffee shop, CineMug (1607 S. Broad St.). PUFF has been screening new and retro films, including Greg Lamberson’s KILLER RACK, CALL GIRL OF CTHULHU and more.
The Philadelphia Unnamed Film Festival is will take place October 6 – 9th. People interested in volunteering for the film festival are encouraged to come out and meet the PUFF staff at the LAKE NOWHERE screening.
