[Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn’t seen the new episode.]
Eight years later and Addy Miller is still one of the most recognized zombies to come out of “The Walking Dead.” At the age of 10, she appeared in the premiere episode of season one as Summer – or Teddy Bear Zombie – the youngster walker in pajamas that Rick shoots in the head. Since then, Addy’s gone on to book 30 credited roles including a two episode arc on “Tainted Love,” horror anthology Witching Hour, the Plan 9 from Outer Space remake, and Hollywood blockbusters The Three Stooges and Dark Places. She also starred in teen fantasy flick Sugar Skull Girls from our friends at Potent Media. I was also featured in that movie, but we didn’t share any screen time. There’s a cool tidbit of useless information.
Now, at age 17, Addy Miller’s career has come full circle as many fans pointed out that the actress returned to “The Walking Dead” tonight to play a different walker in the season eight premiere. Viewers can see her as the walker that approaches Rick after he surprises Carl at the gas station and scares off a potential new character. It’s a blink and you’ll miss it appearance, but it’s definitely a nod to the old episodes and a metaphor for how much the show has changed yet remained the same. Look for Addy in the future in horror-comedy The Devil’s Tree and an unofficial sequel Night of the Living Dead: Genesis.
