I like to think that I’m open minded when it comes to horror. I try to give every sub-genre my undivided attention but some of these sub-genres are just not my cup of tea. One sub-genre that I almost steer clear of is the “torture porn” sub-genre. I love horror and I fucking love sleaze but torture porn is just too fucking boring for my tastes. Most of these films run over 60 minutes and consist of someone tied to a chair, table, or rafters and are then tortured. Some are sexual tortures whiles other are more pain oriented. Regardless, this is boring as fuck to me.

Several years ago I was an active member on the Upcoming Horror Films message board. One of the members was a fan of torture porn and extreme horror and I remember at one point an image from the 1987 film Lolita: Vibrator Torture was in his signature. I was never really interested in checking it out but a few months back Impulse Pictures announced that they were releasing the film on DVD. They sent me a copy of the film to check out. I was on the fence about checking it out and I decided that my Sleazy Sunday viewing would be a perfect chance to check it out.

**Spoiler Alert**The film follows a young schoolgirl who is secretly searching for her missing father before her schoolmates discover she is living alone. She meets a photographer with a hidden secret. At night he moonlights as a serial killer who tortures young women with a vibrator before killing them with poison and disposing of the bodies with acid. He has his sights on the young girl and knowing her father is no longer in the picture he kidnaps her. However, she is different than the others and he finds himself getting a little too close to her.**Spoiler Alert**

Movies like this usually can’t hold my attention. Their simplistic story, though sadistic, is still extremely boring and has no place in a film that runs well over an hour. However, Lolita: Vibrator Torture does give us a little bit more to the story. I wouldn’t call this one a bad film. I had some fun with it but I don’t see myself revisiting it anytime soon.

The acting in this one is decent to say the least. The characters have no personality and are easily lost in a crowd but they work for the story we are given. They dedicate themselves to the roles and some of the more cringe worthy scenes are made even more uncomfortable by their performances.

The story for this one is torture porn at it’s truest definition. We follow a serial killer who tortures young women with a vibrator before killing them. Simple enough. However, the story does add a little something to the story that makes it stand out. The twist is almost predictable but it works for first time viewers. The pacing is a little on the slow side so several scenes will try the viewer’s patience but the overall film is enjoyable.

Finally, if you want blood you will find a little here with a large dose of nudity. The film may play on sexuality but it is anything but sexy. We get a little blood but no real practical effects. Overall, Lolita: Vibrator Torture is a surprisingly solid watch but does not have any replay value. The movie is not as shocking as the title suggests and the story does have some memorable moments. Check it out on DVD from Impulse Pictures.
