I’ve been on another movie watching binge which resulted in me checking out the first three Lust of the Dead films on blu. I was extremely excited to check out these three films but they were horrible. I had a difficult time finishing them and needed something to clean my pallet. I decided to check out some proper sleaze and went to my Vinegar Syndrome collection. After looking through the films I have I decided that it was the perfect time to check out the 1979 Superwoman parody Ms. Magnificent. Thank you Vin Syn for sending this one my way!
**Spoiler Alert**The film follows an evil woman who was banned from the universe for all time. She refuses to learn her lesson and sets in motion a plan to once again rule the universe. However, standing in her way is a hard hitting journalist who also has superhuman powers known as Ms. Magnificent. **Spoiler Alert**
I wasn’t expecting a lot but I was expecting a sleazy good time. Ms. Magnificent delivered the sleaze and I found myself actually enjoying this one. Sure, it rehashing the Superman story as a porn but it was still very entertaining for what it was.
The acting in this one is what you would expect from a porn parody. The cast delivers some extremely cheesy performances while anticipating the sex scene before them. Nothing in the way or memorable performances but they do make the film fun.
The story for this one mixes some Superman parodies with a little sci-fi fun. Almost like Flesh Gordon but on a much smaller scale. I liked the story for what it is and if you fast forward through the sex scenes you will find an extremely cheesy erotic parody running roughly 30 minutes.
Finally, the film has some pretty fun sets that remind me a lot of those late 70s sci-fi flicks that were a staple at the drive-in. However, there is no blood and gore in this skin flick. Overall, Ms. Magnificent may not be the most exciting and sexiest sexploitation flick to ever be filmed but it is mildly entertaining. Check it out now on DVD from Vinegar Syndrome.
