I’m about fucking over this whole COVID-19 thing. My job in communication is considered essential but the world is a scary fucking place right now. Not only is it scary to go to work where my team and I risk exposure to the virus every day along with dealing with assholes who thinks it’s funny to cough or sneeze only to follow it up with “I have the Corona Virus.” It’s infuriating and stressful.

Anyway, I’ve turned to indie horror as a way to escape from this living hell we are living in right now. A few days back director Brad Twigg hit me up to review two upcoming horror anthologies he was releasing. The first was Harvest of Horrors from director Clint Drago which took around 3 yeas to finish from my understanding. Thanks Brad for sending this one over.

**Spoiler Alert**The film a couple driving through the country while the young man tells his girlfriend scary stories to pass the time. The tales range from a house filled with a benevolent spirit that needs souls to sustain itself, a backwoods family that rapes and kills any women they come across, and a group of vampires that pose as vampires. **Spoiler Alert**

Fuzzy Monkey Films has released some of my favorite indie horror releases. Killer Campout is a slasher I always recommend and when someone is bitching about modern zombie movies I often suggest checking out the horror comedy Milfs vs. Zombies. I’ve liked a majority of their releases but there is some that I liked but I don’t see myself visiting them anytime soon. Harvest of Horrors is one of those. It was entertaining but it’s a one time watch for me.

The acting in this one is inconsistent which is typical for an indie horror anthology. Some of the segments were a little better acted than others but they were all very solid. One segment in particular was better acted than the rest which just happens to be my favorite. That is the tale of the backwoods rapists.

The stories in this one is pretty fun for the most part but my only real complaint is the wrap around segment. I liked most of the shorts the way they are but the bookend tale was extremely bland and the ending was painfully cheap. I was not a fan of this but the meat of the film was where I found the fun. They are bloody, campy, and at times rather sleazy which is what I expect from a Fuzzy Monkey film.

Finally, the segments are not afraid to deliver some blood. We get some solid effects for the film’s budget and a decent amount of blood and gore. We don’t get anything really memorable but fans of the red stuff will really enjoy themselves with what is delivered. Overall, Harvest of Horror may not be the quintessential horror anthology but it is still an entertaining one. It may not have any replay value but this is one I will suggest you spin while you drink a few and relax. Check it out when you can.
