News outlets are reporting that actress and philanthropist Kelly Preston died yesterday at the age of 57.
A family member of Preston’s told PEOPLE.com, “On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer. Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends. She was a bright, beautiful and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched. Her family asks for your understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
Preston is most known to horror and scifi fans for playing the role of Roseanne in the John Carpenter/Stephen King classic Christine; as well as Violet in Amazon Women of the Moon and a news reporter in Robert Rodriguez’ From Dusk Till Dawn. She also held parts in Metalstorm: The Destruction (1983), SpaceCamp (1986), Spellbinder (1988), Battlefield Earth (2000) and an episode of “Tales from the Crypt.” To more mainstream film buffs, she’s recognizable in The Cat in the Hat, Jack Frost, Jerry Maguire, The Last Song and Return to Sender.
Kelly also held guest starring roles in “Fat Actress,” “Joey” and “Medium.”
