In 1986 Fangoria writer DONALD FARMER decided to make the leap – from horror journalist to horror director.
After visiting the sets of Stephen King’s CAT’S EYE,John Carpenter’s STARMAN, George Romero’s DAY OF THE DEAD and Sam Raimi’s EVIL DEAD 2 – Farmer was inspired and motivated to take a stab at filmmaking himself.
Farmer didn’t have the huge budget of these horror icons but he had TWO THINGS – a completed script titled DEMON QUEEN and boundless enthusiasm to make his first feature film.
In the 80’s the horror film landscape had radically changed. You no longer needed an expensive 35mm camera and rolls of film stock to make a movie. The video store industry was EXPLODING and they were hungry for movies. . .NEW MOVIES. Now it was possible to shoot with an inexpensive video camera and still score international distribution for your movie.
So Farmer sprang into action! He rounded up a video camerman, a cast of unknown actors and – most important of all – a make-up effects expert fresh from working on Tom Savini’s DAY OF THE DEAD crew. Together this small band of aspiring filmmakers headed to Miami and made DEMON QUEEN.
Los Angeles based MOGUL VIDEO quickly agreed to be the U.S. distributor for DEMON QUEEN and deals for South Korea, France and Belgium quickly followed. By 1987 DEMON QUEEN was popping up on video store shelves from coast to coast and overseas. There was a new name on the indie horror scene and Farmer quickly followed up the successful launch of DEMON QUEEN with CANNIBAL HOOKERS, SCREAM DREAM, SAVAGE VENGEANCE and VAMPIRE COP.
And now – 37 years after the original DEMON QUEEN was made – Farmer is prepared to direct DEMON QUEEN 2 featuring a cast of indie horror favorites:

And the plentiful gore effects for DEMON QUEEN 2 will be handled by none other than JESSIE SEITZ from JACOB’S WIFE and the upcoming SCREAM DREAM remake!
Production on DEMON QUEEN 2 begins in July 2023 with U.S. distribution by Culture Shock Releasing.
