Paroxysm Volume IV, the fourth installment of the independent horror anthology started in 2019, is once again coming to Kickstarter on October 1. MystoPress is bringing yet another volume of terrifying stories and artwork from a lineup of up-and-coming maniacal minds working in comics, visual art, poetry, and prose in the horror genre. Paroxysm Volume IV will be available in all its gory glory in a digital PDF and print edition made with sleek black and white pages and haunting red cover that will terrify any fan of independent horror.
This year’s theme for Paroxysm is “Secrets,” explored in all its grimy detail by a selection of talented artists and writers. Readers will be shocked, chilled, and horrified by comics and artwork by Danielle Draik (For We Are Many, in waking moments, The Path), Natalia Lopes (I Thought I Saw A Deer Last Night, The Corpse of Mr. Hadley), Qufu Lee and Cameron Ashford of The Printed Yam (Widow Maker, Grave Digger), among many others. Perfect for fans of comics like Through The Woods by Emily Carrol, anthology series like Love Death + Robots, and movies like The Witch and Barbarian, Paroxysm Volume IV combines fresh terrifying visions involving a college frat hazing ritual of Eldritch origin, a pact with a woodland spirit that receives confessions, a television that demands to be fed with snuff films, demonic beasts living just beneath the skin, and so much more.
“I’ve found that secrets are oddly fascinating: there’s always a story behind how it got there, how long it’s kept, and what severity of consequence there might be when uncovered by the wrong person,” says editor Natalia Lopes. “Our contributors have reached deep within to offer a collection of truly unnerving plots and heinous fantasies.
