SYNOPSIS
On July 18th, 2018, eight-year-old Annabelle Starnes went missing. No leads have surfaced since. In hopes of gathering new information to her whereabouts, the police department decide to release footage recovered from the Starnes’s residence. What was found in the home would shock this small town of South Carolina.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
The mind is a fragile thing, isn’t it? This statement was the driving factor in creating Life of Belle. Everyone struggles with some form of inner demon. Mostly we just pretend its not there but what if this inner voice is telling you that your family is in danger. How do you prepare for something you don’t understand?
In my directing debut, I wanted to explore this thought. This thought of hopelessness but through the eyes of a child. Innocence in the way a child views the world. Struggles in not understanding why something is happening. This is all the DNA of Life of Belle. When writing the script, I would watch my children, their reaction to both good and bad situations. It gave me a new understanding for the saying “Seeing the world through the eyes of a child” and makes me want to change the way I see. So, I (hopefully) can show you the same.
Our goal was to create something that felt real. That made you care about what is happening on a deeper level. With this emotional investment, to then turn it upside down and make you second guess what you see. Did I just see something in the corner of my eye or was that my imagination?
