Review: Jack Warren’s “BLAIR’S CRAFT PROJECTS”

In October of 2023, an influencer disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland while shooting a DIY craft video. A year later this footage was found.

More Blair Witch Project, please. Despite two less successful sequels and a video game, I still firmly believe that there’s many other stories that can exist within The Blair Witch Universe. Jack Warren’s two-minute short film, Blair’s Craft Projects, is an example of how ingenuity in the independent circuit could translate really well to the big screen. Although displayed as a horror-comedy, Jack Warren could easily take this concept and create a longer fan film that would absolutely kill it in the film festival circuit.

Blair’s Craft Projects is a micro-short that comically depicts The Blair Witch getting her tools of wickedness and mayhem ready for the night – all while live streaming it for a live audience. It’s cute and artistic and fun for all ages, well, except for the man and house cat she’s currently tormenting in the woods. Jack Warren, Mel the Cat and Alyssa Greenway star in Blair’s Craft Projects – now in film festivals including Fantasia Festival taking place next week.

Jack Warren wrote, directed and edited Blair’s Craft Projects. It features cinematography by Duke Plutarch and a few homages to the original film from 1999. This cast and crew diligently worked together to create a short film that has the same atmosphere as the original. The vibe, prop department, foley, soundtrack and camera quality were all on point. My only complaint about this one was its length. I wanted more; that’s for sure!

Blair’s Craft Projects is currently in the film festival circuit, and I highly encourage you to plant your ass in a seat if it’s playing at a venue near you. Well done! Final Score: 9 out of 10.
