Thriller to Premiere at Miami’s Popcorn Frights Next Week, Followed by London’s FrightFest Later This Month
Married filmmakers Emily Bennett and Justin Brooks are proud to reveal the stunning poster art for their hotly-anticipated sophomore feature, BLOOD SHINE, which will World Premiere at Popcorn Frights in Miami, Florida on August 11th before celebrating its International Premiere at FrightFest in London, England on the 23rd. The film is a follow-up to their critically-acclaimed debut feature Alone With You, the 2023 FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-winning psychological thriller which starred Barbara Crampton, Dora Madison, Emma Myles, and Bennett.
Set in a desolate expanse of upstate New York, Blood Shine centers around Clara (Bennett), a religious zealot who worships light in lonely, sacred rituals. When problematic horror director Brighton West (David Call) travels upstate to finish the screenplay for his next film, a chance encounter with Clara leads him into an hallucinatory web of faith, flesh, and the sublime. The film is inspired by the chilling tradition of classic British folk horror, and showcases jaw-dropping practical gore FX from master artist Brian Spears (American Horror Story, Smile 2).
Bennett (Shelby Oaks, City On A Hill) frontlines the powerful cast of genre staples, which includes David Call (Insidious: The Red Door, The Magicians), Brendan Sexton III (Don’t Breathe 2, Russian Doll), Larry Fessenden (MaXXXine, You’re Next), and Toby Poser (Mother of Flies, Hellbender).
Bennett and Brooks share writing and directing duties on the film, for which Brooks also serves as cinematographer. Blood Shine is produced by Alexander Schepsman (Martha Marcy May Marlene, James White), alongside Zeus Kontoyannis (The Killgrin, Bird In Hand) for Zeus Pictures, Garrett Fennelly (The Wolf Hour, Bluebird), and Aaron B. Koontz (Revival, Shelby Oaks) for Paper Street Pictures. Paper Street’s Ashleigh Snead (The Artifice Girl, The Block Island Sound) and Cameron Burns (Scare Package, Old Man) co-produce. G. Riley Mills, Matt Sullivan, and Michael McFadden act as Executive Producers.
Sales on Blood Shine will be handled by Aaron B. Koontz of Paper Street Pictures.
Bennett is represented by Antonio D’Intino at SpectreVision.
