Independent filmmaker J. M. Stelly (ABACUS, Call of the Void) has released the first official teaser trailer for WITHIN MADNESS, a disturbing reworking of his debut film. Starring Jared Bankens (Venom, Call of the Void) and Matt Story (Where the Crawdads Sing, ABACUS), this psychological horror piece dives deep into the twisted relationship between two serial killers and the brutal “art” they create.
WITHIN MADNESS chronicles the recorded interviews of Mark Chapel (Bankens) and Donovan Summers (Story), two infamous killers whose dark partnership is laid bare through confession, manipulation, and raw footage. Central to their descent into infamy is The Sacrament of Bondage — a film created by Chapel that depicts Summers’ first murders, captured as part snuff, part experimental cinema. What unfolds is a layered portrait of depravity, control, and obsession, blurring the line between performance and reality.
“This film isn’t about violence for shock’s sake,” says Stelly. “It’s about how monsters build each other, how one mind feeds another — and what happens when art becomes the weapon.”
The teaser trailer offers a haunting glimpse into the atmospheric and unflinching tone of the film. With vérité-style filmmaking, and chilling performances, WITHIN MADNESS aims to unsettle and provoke.
The project is currently raising funds to complete production/post-production. Contributions will support practical effects, visual effects, final editing, sound design and more. Fans of transgressive cinema, indie horror, and psychological thrillers are invited to help bring this vision to life.
Stelly who is represented by Rodrigo Moscoso from Zero Gravity Management will be seeking sales on the film soon as it will wrap production in September and start Post soon after.
