Chicago-based musicians and frequent collaborators Anteeter and Normal Writing are proud to announce the release of their original score for Butchered (2024), a slasher short film produced by Fearsythe Films and written and directed by Gretel Forsythe.
Butchered: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack finds composers Mike Kelley (Anteeter) and Jackson Arbogast(Normal Writing) channeling the sonic spirit of the 1970s, the era in which the film takes place. The score blends chilling string arrangements reminiscent of classic horror cinema with experimental, guitar-driven textures of the period, all elevated by modern production techniques. The result is both a reverent homage to vintage film scores and a contemporary contribution to the genre.
The soundtrack also includes “The Roach”—an anthemic rock ballad performed by vocalist Sophie Delay, featuring drums by Django Wilson, a longtime collaborator of Anteeter. Butchered: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be released independently on October 31, 2025, and will be available on all major streaming platforms.
