Peccadillo Pictures announce RuPaul’s Drag Race fan-favourite Kate Butch as host for Lesbian Space Princess preview screening on 17th June at Curzon Soho, London.
Kate Butch is an award-winning menace to society who is perhaps best known for competing on Series 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, becoming one of its breakout stars. Before that, she made her professional debut at the age of 11, playing a sweetcorn-obsessed child in Green Giant’s ‘my mum says you are what you eat’ advertising campaign. She won Celebrity Mastermind in 2024 (her specialist subject was Shrek), and played a starring role in BBC One’s The Power of Parker in 2025.
She is also an experienced stand-up comedian, enjoying sold-out Edinburgh runs of her shows Kate if You Wanna Go Butcher and Wuthering Shites, as well as performing in Drag Queens vs Zombies and Drag Queens vs Vampires, the latter of which was one of the top 20 best-reviewed comedy shows of EdFringe 2023. That year she also made her West End debut in Sleeping Beauty at the Harold Pinter Theatre, and returned to Panto at London’s Phoenix Theatre with Peter Pan in 2024. She co-hosts the podcast Queers Gone By, which the Guardian dubbed one of the world’s 50 funniest podcasts, and is frequently seen on London’s comedy circuit. In 2026 she won the hearts of the nation as runner up of RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World.
Kate Butch will be presenting an extended introduction and performance followed by a preview of Lesbian Space Princess at Curzon Soho Cinema on 17th June. This is the latest addition to the Lesbian Space Princess preview events taking place at cinema venues in the UK this Pride month. Peccadillo Pictures is over the moon to announce that Lesbian Space Princess will launch into UK & Irish cinemas from 19th June.
Lesbian Space Princess celebrated its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Teddy Award, before going on to win the Audience Award for “Best Australian Feature” at the Sydney Film Festival.
A laugh-out-loud adventure through the far reaches of queer outer space, Lesbian Space Princess showcases the incredible talents of South Australian writers/ directors, Leela Varghese and Emma Hough Hobbs.
Daughter to the flamboyant lesbian Queens of Planet Clitopolis, introverted Princess Saira is devastated when her bounty-hunter girlfriend, Kiki, suddenly breaks up with her for being too needy.
After Kiki is kidnapped by forgotten incels of the future, the Straight White Maliens, Saira must leave the comforts of gay space to deliver their ransom: her royal labrys (the most powerful weapon known to lesbian kind). Only problem is… she doesn’t have it!
With just a 24-hour window to get her labrys and save Kiki, Princess Saira finds herself on an inter-gay-lactic journey of self-discovery that includes encounters with a problematic spaceship and a new-found friendship with gay-pop runaway Willow.
An animated comedy like no other, Lesbian Space Princess is a riotous, candy-coloured joy from start to finish: an animation by emerging creatives that embraces LGBTQIA+ and culturally diverse voices, on and off-screen.
Lesbian Space Princess is voiced by Shabana Azeez (Birdeater, The Pitt), Bernie Van Tiel (Class of 07, Swift Street), Gemma Chua Tran (Heartbreak High, Ladies in Black), Aunty Donna (Aunty Donna’s Big Ol House of Fun, Aunty Donna’s Coffee Cafe), Richard Roxburgh (Rake, Elvis, Van Helsing), Jordan Raskopolous (The Strange Chores, I Am Woman), Madeleine Sami (Deadloch, The Breaker Upperers) and Kween Kong (RuPaul’s Drag Race).
