Conceived as an oppressive, unsettling slow burn, the film offers an extreme, nightmarish experience.
The team behind THE NARROW HOUSE shared the first official images from the film, previewing the suffocating, gothic atmosphere set to make it one of the most anticipated horror releases in Paraguayan cinema.
The images confirm the project’s distinctive visual identity: enclosed spaces, bodies gripped by fear, and an old Asunción mansion that seems to close in around its inhabitants. Rather than functioning merely as a setting, the house is a living presence, charged with secrets, capable of turning the everyday into something threatening.
Directed by Armando Aquino (Ore Ru, Leal 2, Renacer Albirrojo) and Hernán Moyano (The Red Book Ritual: Gates of Hell, Sudor frío, Belisario, el pequeño gran héroe del cosmos), the film features a cast led by Lizzie Gómez, Diro Romero (Narciso), Natalia Cálcena (Narciso), Matías Miranda (Sé valiente), Lia Love (No entres), Alejandra Cabral Valinotti, and Alberto Jara.
The images hint at the claustrophobic mood surrounding Salma, a young woman trapped in a toxic relationship who takes a job caring for a dying old man in an aging Asunción mansion. What begins as a chance to escape her own trauma slowly unravels into a labyrinth of secrets, presences, and supernatural phenomena that put her grip on reality — and her sanity — at risk.
THE NARROW HOUSE is built as a slow-burn experience: a film that isn’t after the immediate jump scare, but a growing sense of unease. The horror seeps in gradually — through gestures, silences, rooms, and relationships — until the lines between trauma, delusion, and supernatural threat blur completely.
Written by Hernán Moyano, the film converses with genre touchstones like Hereditary, The Others, and Drag Me to Hell, among other works, blending body horror and paranormal dread within an unsettling domestic universe.
Cinematography is by Armando Aquino himself, who builds a visual language defined by confinement, darkness, and the gradual distortion of space.
The soundtrack will feature the original track “Sueño de tus ojos” by the legendary Paraguayan rock duo IODI, and the original track “Crucigrama” by pop singer Lia Love.
With post-production already underway — led by professionals from Paraguay and Argentina — THE NARROW HOUSE is preparing to begin its international festival run toward the end of 2026, ahead of its theatrical release across the region.
Executive production is by Gaspar Zaldívar (Luna de Cigarras, El Supremo Manuscrito) and Bruno Zuccolillo, with Janus Media S.A. and Zuma Productions as co-producers, and Chaco Films, Cut to the chase and Black Mandala Films as associate producers.
The initiative reaffirms these production companies’ commitment to local talent, and to continuing to position the country as an emerging hub for regional horror cinema, in partnership with international production houses.
