Night terrors (or pavor nocturnus) are a parasomnia sleep disorder causing intense fear, screaming, and thrashing while in deep, non-REM sleep. They rarely involve waking or memory of the event. They are typically caused by stress, fatigue or illness.

The following footage was submitted by Metus University in the South East of Scotland. It formed part of a study in somnology conducted by their physiology and psychiatry departments.
